Drew McGinniss is a filmmaker and multimedia artist working out of Greensboro, NC and Carbondale, IL. In 2022, he earned an Associate in Arts degree from Guilford Technical Community College, and in 2024, he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media Studies from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. He is currently an MFA student in the Media Arts program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He works in the speculative fiction genre, drawing on elements of science fiction, horror, and surrealism. His style deviates from reality through highly saturated colors, unconventional visual compositions, and complex layered sounds. When not directing, he is often on set as part of the lighting department, and he has experience in both pre and postproduction as a writer and editor. His work also includes interactive media, net art, photography, prose fiction, and more, and has been shown in museums, festivals, and international exhibitions.
